Essex Fire & Rescue Services is receiving calls from residents reporting the smell of smoke/visible smoke throughout the Town of Essex. These conditions are the result of wildfires in northern Ontario, which is affecting air quality across Essex County.
Due to the current conditions, a Burn Ban is in effect. If you have an active fire, please extinguish it immediately. Essex Fire will re-evaluate the fire risk level once air quality improves. Please help keep emergency phone lines available for urgent situations by not calling 9-1-1 related to the current air quality.
