Town of Essex Heritage Farm Program 

Application Form

To qualify as a Town of Essex Heritage Farm, an applicant must meet the following criteria:  

• The lands must be located within the Town of Essex 
• The lands must be in active operation for agricultural purposes  
• The lands must be held in common familial ownership for the period indicated in one of the following four (4) heritage categories: 
  • Bronze Heritage Farm
    Those Farms in which common familial ownership can be demonstrated for a period of fifty (50) to seventy-five (75) years minus a day.  
  • Silver Heritage Farm
    Those Farms in which common familial ownership can be demonstrated for a period of seventy-five (75) to one hundred (100) years minus a day.  
  • Gold Heritage Farm
    Those Farms in which common familial ownership can be demonstrated for a period of one hundred (100) to one hundred and one hundred and fifty (150) years minus a day. 
  • Platinum Heritage Farm
    Those Farms in which common familial ownership can be demonstrated for a period of one hundred and fifty (150) years or greater.
